Leave a Legacy
Make your mark on history: leave a gift in your will
Leaving a legacy will help ensure the working history demonstrated at Amberley Museum is there for future generations to explore and learn from. It’s an opportunity to make your own mark on history, sharing your passion for the machines, trades, and ways of working that can be found at the Museum.
If you would like to speak to someone about leaving a legacy to Amberley Museum, or making a gift in memory of a friend or loved one, please do get in touch with the Director, Katrina Burton on 01798 831370 or katrina.burton@amberleymuseum.co.uk
Leaving a legacy to Amberley Museum
In leaving Amberley Museum a legacy, your generosity will help bring the past to life, and protect our shared history for future visitors. It doesn’t matter how large or small the gift is, your legacy will make an indelible mark on history. We are enormously thankful for every gift that’s made.
When you’re ready to make or update your will, you will need to include our legal name, address and registered charity number:
Name: Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre
Address: New Barn Road, Amberley, West Sussex, BN18 9LT
Registered charity number: 278722
Writing your will
When you come to write your will, you will need to consider how you would like to make your gift. These are the three main ways.
A share of your estate
Once you’ve decided what you’ll leave to family and friends, you can leave a share of what’s left of your estate, known as a ‘residual gift’. This type of gift will keep pace with inflation and not lose value.
A fixed sum of money
Leaving a fixed sum of money is also known as leaving a ‘pecuniary gift’. The value of this type of gift could be diminished by inflation, so it’s worth revisiting your will every couple of years to make adjustments if needed.
A specific gift
You may choose to leave a specific item, such as a valuable asset like a car or watch, or stocks and shares. Seek out professional advice from your solicitor in such instances, to ensure your wishes are properly carried out.
If you would like to leave something to be preserved in the Museum’s collections, please contact our Curator on 01798 831370 or curator@amberleymuseum.co.uk
