Paviors’ Museum of Road Making
Situated in the White Pit, an 1842 cast iron framed tannery building from Horsham now houses an exhibition developed with the Worshipful Company of Paviors telling the story of roadmaking.
The exhibit includes some impressive commercial and industrial road vehicles and plant, ranging from steam rollers to concrete mixers.
There is also a cycle exhibit in the Paviors’ building, tracing the history of cycles from the 1817 hobbyhorse through to the plastic cycles of the 1980s.
