07/11/2018 Summer Fundraising Campaign - Peter 2018 sees the 100th birthday of one of our favourite attractions “Peter”, the Bagnall steam engine that has been carrying visitors around the site since 1994. Peter was originally commissioned by the war office for forestry operations in Cumbria, then after several owners was purchased by the Cliffe Hill Quarry, Leicestershire in 1922, where it is believed that Peter was named after the owner’s son. In 1954 Peter was acquired by the Narrow Gauge Railway Society and eventually joined the
08/28/2018 Ale at Amberley Our annual Ale & Entertainment evenings return on the weekend of the Friday 31st August continuing through to Sunday 2nd September, with a selection of ales, ciders and perries to try and with local entertainment to enjoy. Starting at 6pm on the Friday 31st, we will be open for a special evening until 10.30pm with ale’s and entertainment. For the Friday night we have local musician Willie Austen entertaining us from 7.30pm. Tickets for the Friday night are at £5 per person, over 18’s only.
06/09/2018 Dads Can Do - Sunday 17th June On Sunday 17th June, Amberley Museum will be hosting their annual Dads Can Do event for Father’s Day. As part of this event the Museum is offering free entry to Dad’s of all ages when accompanied by their paying children. As part of Dads Can Do, there will be special activities for Dad’s to take part in around the Museum. Visitors can ‘Discover’ the 36 acre site, ‘Learn’ about the Museum exhibits and ‘Have Fun’ with the hands on activities. Have a go at Pottery with the Museum’s onsite
05/29/2018 Traditional Crafts Weekend is a Resounding Success Over 47 crafters joined the resident craftsmen at Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre for their traditional crafts event over the bank holiday weekend. Many long forgotten crafts that would have been part of the way of life in days gone by were brought to life, with the event once again attracting crafts people from all over Surrey and Sussex to demonstrate their skills. 05/22/2018 Spring fundraising campaign - 'STEAM!' Help us keep Amberley Museum special! This spring your donations will support our STEAM! fundraising campaign. Our historic steam crane and Marshall steam roller ‘Joan’ need essential boiler repairs to get them back in to steaming action. Just £2,000 will enable us to fund the specialist works required and once again demonstrate the exciting power of the steam crane and roller to our visitors. 05/19/2018 Military Vehicle and Home Front Weekend Amberley Museum hosted its annual Military Vehicle and Home Front Weekend event on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May. They turned back the clocks to the 1940’s Home Front and Wartime Britain, with dioramas and displays of life including vintage fire engines, bombed out shops, air raid shelters and a period police station and much more. With the beautiful weather over the weekend, Saturday was a quieter day with the Royal celebrations that day, but the exhibitors took time out to raise their
